This season has been quite the rollercoaster ride; emotionally, mentally and for some physically. These lockdowns and social distancing in place and the constant need to keep everything clean. It’s like our minds are always working in the background, almost as if we’ve developed a sixth sense —The Awareness of Germs.
Even our kids are aware of it, they went from directly digging out of the grocery bag to waiting till every surface was fully sanitized ( I know I tend to overdo it sometimes, but it’s just that kind of instinct in me, always has been there and now more than ever).
I should take a moment here to appreciate the little ones, they’ve lost a whole summer. No vacation, no visits, no playdates, no shopping, no new toys and so many celebrating their birthdays during the lockdown— everything they knew so far had to change, but they have been super understanding about this whole thing.
My heart goes out for all those who’ve lost their loved ones to this COVID battle, and those who have suffered through this illness. You have been brave.
Thanks to all those frontline workers who have no choice but to face this head-on, despite the negativity of it all they still suit up and go every single day to save those in need.
This season no doubt has been tough on all of us. Everyone has felt the pinch and as days go by it seems all the more frustrating. Doesn’t it?
In all this, while I had this one question “Why this and why now?”
All of us had plans this year. For some it was work or business, for some— they had it in their heart to get married, for some buying a house, or moving abroad, working on weight loss, but this year seems to have gone down the drain.
Honestly, as a kid, I imagined 2020 to have flying cars and robotic butlers like in the ‘Jetsons’, and lightsabers and teleportation, and here we are in our Jammies day after day, figuring out what new dish we can make with what’s left in our pantry. ( Crickets in the background :| )
And these online calls and classes and meetings and webinars just don’t seem to end; it's just a bit overwhelming at times.
We just can’t leave work at work and retreat to our homes. It’s almost as if work is always there.
Most of all, this mental pressure of being constantly aware of this virus and the fatality rates that follow. This is too much.
But I want to turn your attention to those who have recovered. To those individuals who have produced enough antibodies to fight this virus.
Usually, when we need to get a vaccine or medicine ready it takes years of research, but our human body is already having the ‘science’ to fight something that has recently come to light.
It's amazing how beautifully our bodies were designed by God. Scientists are nowhere near attaining perfection in discovering what is so easily produced by our bodies.
Although this chapter of life has been difficult; I urge you today to thank God for making our bodies the way He did.
There is hope for recovery because God Himself made our bodies. He knit us together in the womb. Remember? (Psalm 139:13)
He has custom-made our body.
He has already prepared your body to fight germs.
The Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. ( 2 Timothy 1:7)
Also, let me point out how loving a Father He is! God disciplines those He loves. Right?
Revelation 3:19, 20 says, “
Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
If this season is a season of being disciplined, then how assured can we be of His love for us. God’s will is that all should be saved and that none should perish. (2 Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”)
How amazing is this love!
He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us a hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
How can we not take this promise literally?
Especially after we know that all of His promises are yes and amen! (James 1:8)
Take Heart Dear One!
God’s got your back for what is to come.
God’s got your name engraved in the palm of His hand. ( Isaiah 49:16)
He sent His son to take our place on the cross even before we were born out of His love for His creation, Us. What assurance do we need?
He has plans to prosper us and not to harm us, plans to give us hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
He’s always planning ahead. He’s preparing ahead. He’s ready. Are we?
Think!
